Popular Young People Married-May 11, 1943

A very pretty wedding took place Tuesday evening May 11, 1943 at six o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Barnes near New Lisbon, when their daughter Bonnie Mae, became the bride of Staff SGT. Harold E. Niles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milo E. Niles of Mauston. Rev. Otto McKegney, pastor of the Lone Rock Baptist Church performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride was attended by Miss Catherine Niles, cousin of the groom, as bridesmaid. Wm. M. Barnes, brother of the bride attended the groom. The wedding march was played by Miss Mildred Benson of New Lisbon.


The bride was becomingly attired in a light blue two-piece gown of street length with white accessories, and wore a corsage of rust talisman roses and asparagus fern , while a single rose nestled in her hair.


The bridesmaid's gown was of beige, two piece street length, with brown accessories. Her corsage was of rust talisman roses and orchid sweet peas and asparagus fern. She also wore a rose in her hair.


The groom wore his regulation Army uniform. His attendant wore a blue suit with white carnation boutonniere.

The bride's mother wore a brown figured gown with a corsage of orchid sweet peas and asparagus fern. The groom's mother wore a liberty blue gown with a corsage of orchid sweets peas and asparagus fern.

Wm. H. Barnes, Gordon Barnes and Milo E. Niles wore conventional business suits and pink carnation boutonnieres.


After the ceremony the guests wee served ice cream, cake and coffee. The beautifully decorated tiered wedding cake was made by Mr. Leo Reidel of Hustler.


These present beside the bridal party were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Barnes and son Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. Milo E. Niles, Mr. and Mrs. Howard R. Niles and Betty, Mrs. Francis Finucan, Mildred Benson and Mrs. Leo Reidal of Hustler.


Staff Sgt. Niles will return in a few days to his Night Fighter Squadron based at Kissimmee, Florida. His bride, who is a teacher in the New Lisbon Public School, will finish her school term before going to Florida.


Both bride and groom are among the most popular young people of Juneau County and we join with their host of sincere friends in extending congratulations.
